(7/08) Our sympathy goes out to Bob Christensen with the passing of
his mother.
(7/08) Jackie Dwyer’s last day here was June 28,
but she is going to continue working for AT until the end of October,
but from a distance—We wish her the best as she moves to the Kansas
City area. She has been a real asset to the Assistive Technology
project.
(5/08) Misty Goosen received the Award of Excellence and Peggy Miksch
received the Service to the Organization Award from the Kansas Division
for Early Childhood Conference in Wichita. Read

(5/08) Joan Wald Baken award, which is made to those whose accomplishments
represent exemplary advocacy and educational practice in direct delivery
of services to individuals with physical and health disabilities in schools,
hospitals, clinics, homes, or in the community has been awarded to Muriel

2007 News and Announcements
(9/07) Sara Major, Behavioral Therapist for the Southeast Kansas Treatment
Foster Care Project, placed 2nd out of all females in the Omaha, NE Marathon
on 9/23/07. Her time was 3:28:22, and she received $150 for placing. (Read

40 Years of Service
(9/07) Pat White received her 40-year service pin from Governor
Kathleen Sebelius August 3, 2007 in Topeka at a reception held for 40-year

Pollution Prevention Award

New Staff
(3/07) Peggy Miksch is the new Technical Assistance Officer
for the KITS Statewide Inservice & Technical Assistance System: Infant & Toddler
Expansion project under the direction of Dr. David Lindeman. Peggy is
stationed in Wamego. Her first day on the job was February 1, 2007.
Jeff Stein is an undergraduate research assistant working
with Dean Williams.
Staff News
(1/07) Kimberly Page is the new Coordinator for the Early Child Resource
Center with the Kansas Inservice Training System projects under the direction
of Dr. Dave Lindeman. Her extension is 1638 in the Media Lab Building.
Christy Alligood is the new Research Assistant for the Recombinative
Generalization of Within-Syllable Units in Mental Retardation under the
direction of Dr. Kathryn Saunders. Her extension is 1915 in the Research
Center.
2006 News and Announcements
Honors

(5/06) Tammie Benham was invited and accepted into the Phi Kappa Phi
Honor Society. Tammie is currently pursuing a Library Science degree
at Emporia State University and is the Coordinator of the Early Childhood
Resource Center associated with the Kansas Inservice Training System
(KITS).
Honors (From the Parsons Sun)

(3/06) Vera Stroup-Rentier of the University of Kansas Life San Institute
at Parsons, received the Kansas Division for Early childhood Award
of Excellence. Stroup-Rentier is the technical assistance coordinator
for the Kansas Inservice Training system, a program that provides training
to early interventionist and early childhood special education teachers
across the state.
The award was presented at the annual conference of KDEC March 2 and
3 in Overland Park.
Honors
(3/06) Kansans Mobilizing for Direct Support Workforce
Change (KMFC) received the Moving Mountains Award on February 14, 2006
at the Reinventing Quality Conference 2006 in San Diego, CA. The award
is presented by the Research and Training Center on Community Living
at the University of Minnesota in partnership with the National Alliance
for Direct Support Professionals to organizations and agencies that
have demonstrated best practice in direct support professional (DSP)
workforce development.
